LUMBERTON The staff at Badcock Home Furniture & More of Lumberton is celebrating a high-flying achievement.
The store recently won the coveted company-wide Presidents Award for overall store operations.
They are one out of about 320 stores in eight different states and the Lumberton Store was selected to win the coveted award.
Annette Moses, manager of the Lumberton store, said earning the award is quite a big accomplishment.
It really is, said Annette Moses, manager of the Lumberton store. In my 13 years employed with Badcock, its something weve worked towards and we finally accomplished. It takes a lot of hard work and a good crew.
Moses has been manager of the Lumberton store at 1950 N. Roberts Ave. for nearly five years.
The franchise owner is Barry Altman of Wadesboro. He owns nearly 10 stores.
While the staff at the Lumberton store got the coveted trophy as winner of the Presidents Award, Altman received an undisclosed amount of cash and an expense-paid vacation.
The furniture franchises top award was announced at a dealer show last Saturday held in Savannah, Ga.
Altman attended and collected the trophy for his staff.
Altman called Moses about the big news.
He was excited. He asked me to sit down before he told me. I couldnt believe the award was actually ours, said Moses.
We knew we were in the top 10, and we were hoping. Thats a hard award to receive. It takes a lot of hard work, and you have to have a good crew, as far as being a good team, she said.
Each Badcock store is inspected and evaluated every year, in consideration of the top award.
Moses said the Presidents Award is based on overall increases in sales receipts, collections, quality of customer service, and the store standards how we look, and were graded on all of that every year.
The Badcock store has been in its current building on Roberts Avenue since April 2008.
