Kattie Earlene Gibbs Locklear, 75, of Union Light Church Road, went
home to be with the Lord on Jan. 13, 2009.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Union Light Baptist Church, the
Revs. Romey Revels and Lamon Locklear officiating. Burial will follow
in the church cemetery.
Kattie was born Oct. 14, 1933 in Robeson County. She was the daughter
of the late James “Jimmy” Gibbs and Archie Lugenia Smiling Gibbs. She
was devoted to her home and family and was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and sister. She served the Lord as a longtime and faithful
member of the Union Light Baptist Church.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband, Tracy “Bank”
Locklear of the home; sons, Albert “Levern” Gibbs of Fairmont, “Wade”
Jackie Gibbs and wife Cathy, both of Winston-Salem; daughters, Janice
L. Gibbs of Maxton and Katie “Jeralene” Menges and husband Mitch, both
of Charlotte; grandchildren, Collin and Grace Gibbs, both of
Winston-Salem, Caleb and Rachel Menges, both of Charlotte and Ellen
Kate Gibbs, who lived next door and got off the school bus each day at
her grandmother’s home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Richard Boles
Funeral Service in Laurinburg.
