LUMBERTON — This year’s Robeson Regional Agricultural Fair will feature something new and bigger than ever — monster trucks.
The addition of a monster truck show is one of the highlights of the 2011 schedule, which was recently released by fair organizers. This year’s fair will be put on by Wade Shows, the company in charge of the North Carolina State Fair.
“That is a real big deal and we’re pretty proud of that,” said Allen Faircloth, the fair president. “He’s the third largest carnival in the world, not just the U.S., but the world.”
The fair will be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 8 at the Robeson County Fairgrounds. Faircloth is hoping to break last year’s attendance numbers.
“I’d love to say we are going to top 100,000,” Faircloth said. “What we are going to shoot for this year is multiple attendance by the same individuals.”
The schedule can be found at www.robesoncountyfair.com, or at Robesonian.com under the Agriculture tab.
Regular features will include the rides, food and animals, as well as a canned food drive for the Robeson County Church and Community Center on Oct. 6. Five cans of non-perishable food items will get a person in for free.
“We’re anticipating that either through the food or the exhibit experience or entertainment … that they will have an all-in-one entertainment experience all for $6,” Faircloth said.
Advance tickets will be on sale throughout the county in September.
