Homecoming

Mt. Sinai United Holy Church of Lumberton will celebrate Homecoming Saturday and Sunday.

The Rev. Eric Grant of Wood Memorial Church, Fort Bragg, will speak in a service at 4 p.m. Nov. 14. The Voices of Distinction, an all male retired soldiers choir, will sing.

Elder Russell Rogers of Pentecostal United Holy Church, Lumberton, will speak on Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. The Pentecostal Mass Choir will sing.

The church is at 117 Page Street.

Homecoming will be celebrate Sunday at Trinity Holiness Church, Lumberton. Sunday school is at 10 a.m., morning worship at 11 and lunch will follow the worship service.

The church is at 4650 Fayetteville Road.

Mt. Olive United Methodist Church will celebrate its Homecoming and 136 years of church services on Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Roscoe Smith Jr. of Holy Swamp Baptist Church will speak. He will be accompanied by the Holy Swamp congregation.

Mt. Olive is at 403 E. Elizabethtown Road, Lumberton.

Gospel Meeting

Michael Sheppard of Westside Church of Christ, Pensacola, Fla., will be the speaker for a Gospel Meeting Nov. 29-Dec. 3 at South Lumberton Church of Christ. The Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and services Monday through Thursday will be at 7 p.m.

Opportunities

Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered program that gives people the resources and relationships to help recover from life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups, meets at Berea Baptist Church in Pembroke each Friday at 7 p.m. in the old sanctuary.

The Supernatural Abundance of Rain Ministries invites everyone to Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11. The ministry is at 2605 N.C. 130 West, Rowland. The pastor is Harold Dwight Jones.

Special events

Sandy Plains United Methodist Church, 2468 Union Chapel Road, Pembroke, will host a Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Seasonal flu vaccine will be available, and there will be free screenings and health care representatives to answer questions.

Health plans accepted include: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare Part B only, or $30 cash or check. People attending are asked to bring insurance cards and photo identification. This event is open to the surrounding community.

The Music Ministry at Outreach Family Fellowship presents Murder Mystery Dinner Sunday afternoon at 5 in the Charles L. Berry Center, 138 Pee Dee Church Road, Dillon, S.C. The evening will feature fine dining, fellowship and fun. A donation of $10 person is requested.

First Baptist Church of Lumberton will have its annual barbecue plate sale and cake auction on Nov. 20. Proceeds will support youth ministry trips.

Plates will include barbecue, baked beans, slaw, bread and dessert. Plates are available for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and for dinner from 4 to 7 p.m.

You may come inside, have dinner and bid on a cake, or simply drive up for curbside service.

The church is at 6th and Walnut Streets.

The United Methodist Women at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fairmont, will have a Food Fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Homemade cookies, cakes, candy, casseroles, sausage balls, homemade Brunswick stew, soup and lots of other items will be available. A silent auction will include a steak dinner for two, a handmade basket, a travel bag, purses, a wallet and a special cake baked by Pastor Harold Salmon. Coffee is free. Womens Day at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church will be Nov. 22. The service will be at 11 a.m., and the speaker will be Carol Gayden from Raeford. Special music will be by the Young Believers of the churchs youth department. The church is at 172 Plainview Drive, Lumberton.

Food Ministry

Pentecostal United Holy Churchs Food Aid Ministry will distribute food to needy families in Robeson and surrounding counties on Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Recipients will need to bring a picture ID, proof of residence and telephone number. For information, call Elder Curtis Henderson, 674-5986.

New Jerusalem Christian Centers food ministry program will be Nov. 17 at 3:30 p.m. The center is at 708 E. 1st St., Lumberton.

Music

The Trinity Holiness Church family will host Heaven Sent Ministries on Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The church is at 4650 Fayetteville Road, Lumberton. Everyone is invited.

The Annease Drive Praise and Worship Center Choir sill sponsor a gospel singing Nov. 20-21 at 7 p.m.

The Nov. 20 program will feature Monica Locklear, The Singing Revelations, Sounds of Praise, Carla & Redemption and Annette and the True Believers. The Nov. 21 program will feature Tina Hunt and Family, Cross Ties, Heavenly Voices, Anchored in Christ, Sycamore Singers, and The Going Through Singers.

To get to the church, take I-95 South to Exit 7, take the right, then turn left on South Robeson Road. After two miles, turn left on Dew Road, and take the first left.

Special services

McCormick Chapel AME Church, 210 Main St., Lumberton, will sponsor a Rainbow Tea service Saturday evening at 6. Everyone is invited.

Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church will have a deacon ordination service Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. Five church members will be ordained as deacons.

Bishop George and Co-Pastor Ella Matthews invite pastors, deacons and all others to this service. The church is at 3698 Pine Log Road, Lumberton.

Fountain of Deliverance, Lumberton, will have a Youth Day program Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Minister Magnolia Cobb will be the speaker.

Plate sales

The Union Baptist Church WMU and Brotherhood willl have a plate sale beginning at 11 a.m. on Nov. 20. Chicken and barbecue plates will be sold.

This fundraiser is for Pastor Ronald Locklear, who is sick.

Anniversaries

The Spiritual Heirs 11th anniversary sing is Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church. The program will feature: The Faith Baptist Youth Choir, Spiritual Heirs, Unity Quartet, Youth In Christ, McDonald Quartet and Tina Deal, and Annette Locklear.

A plate sale will be Nov. 20 beginning at 5 p.m. Chicken and barbecue plates are $6 and combination plates are $7. Barbecue will also be available for sale by the pound. A love offering will be taken. The church is on N.C. 710, between Pembroke and Rowland.

Fundraisers

Frances Rose of Big Daddys Catering in Elizabethtown, is taking part in the Klownn 4 a Kauze fundraising car show on Saturday. She has pledged all proceeds, minus expenses, to the Robeson County Church and Community Center.

This car show, sponsored by Klownn Kreationz car club, will be from 1 to 6 p.m., and will be in centers parking lot on West 5th Street in Lumberton.

Everyone is asked to bring non-perishable and canned food items, or unwrapped toys to be donated to Toys for Tots. Monetary donations will also be appreciated.

Hot dogs, drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and chips will be on sale.

The South Robeson Elders group will have its annual yard sale today and Saturday at Ashpole Church on South Robeson Road, Rowland.

There will be a variety of items for sale, including clothes, cakes, muffins and pies.

The yard sale begins at 8:30 a.m.
