ST. PAULS — Two Robeson County men have been charged with crimes after authorities interrupted a drug deal this week, according to sheriff’s Lt. Charles Revels.
Revels said that Alberto Barroso Sosa, 32, of 164 Lester Michael Road, St. Pauls, and a Robeson County man whose name he didn’t release were both arrested about 4 p.m. Monday.
Sosa was charged with four counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, transporting cocaine, manufacturing and delivering cocaine, maintaining a drug vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $150,000, Revels said.
Revels said the second man’s name is being withheld because of circumstance concerning the investigation.
According to Revels, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team received information at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday that a crack deal was going to take place in the parking lot of a St. Pauls grocery store.
Agents in unmarked squad cars waited in the parking lot for the men to arrive. Revels said the first man arrived in an SUV and Sosa, who was driving a blue 1999 Chevrolet Lumina, soon followed.
Revels said agents watched the transaction and then arrested the men without incident.
Revels said about 6 ounces of crack cocaine was seized. He said its street value was about $18,000.
