Education Briefs for Aug. 23

ROWLAND The South Robeson High School Advisory Council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the conference center.
A PTA/open house will be at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at the school. For information, call the school at (910) 422-3987.

LUMBERTON Cheri Ward and Austin Chappell have been selected to participate in the Great American Marching Band in the 2009 Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Ward and Chappell both play the trumpet in the Lumberton High School Marching and Symphonic Bands.
The trip to New York City will include sightseeing, a leadership session and show at Radio City Music Hall.

LUMBERTON Lumberton Junior High School will participate in Box Tops for Education, which is a school fund-raising program sponsored by General Mills.
The schools hops to raise $1,000 to purchase school supplies.
To participate, clip box tops from General Mills products and mail them to Kim Pittel, box tops coordinator, at 82 Marion Road, Lumberton NC 28358. Donations can also be made through by registering to support the school.
