LUMBERTON - A Lumberton woman watched as her boyfriend was shot to death Monday night during a robbery attempt at a mobile home off of N.C. 211.
Sheriff's investigators found Calvin Baxley, 24, dead in the bedroom of his Lot 9 mobile home at the Dogwood Mobile Home Park on N.C. 211 East, sheriff's Detective Sgt. Rory McKeithan said.
“The suspect entered the home with a gun in each hand and used one to kill Baxley, according to a witness,” McKeithan said.
McKeithan said Baxley's girlfriend answered a knock at the door at about 7:15 to find a man with a handgun in each hand Baxley was shot multiple times with a handgun.
McKeithan said Baxley's girlfriend, whom he would not identify, reported the killing. She was hospitalized for treatment of shock after witnessing the killing.
McKeithan said it's unclear whether anything was taken during the killing.
