FORT SMITH, Ark. Fairmont native William McGirt shot an even par 70 to finish in a tie for 39th at 4-under 276 at the Nationwide Tour’s Fort Smith Classic Sunday afternoon.
McGirt had four birdies and four bogeys in his final round. All of his bogeys came on the back nine. McGirt earned $2,240 to remain 20th on the tour’s money list. The top 25 players on the money list at the end of the season automatically earn their PGA Tour cards for next year.
Tournament winner Chris Kirk fired a 6-under 64 on Sunday to finish at 16-under 264 to edge Kyle Thompson by one shot. Former U.S. and British Open winner John Daly had a 1-under 69 in his final round to finish in a tie for 22nd at 8-under 272.
The next Nationwide Tour event is the Mexico Open Bicentenary at the El Bosque Golf Club, which begins Thursday.
