UNCP's Wendorff joins relations panel
RALEIGH - Liliana Wendorff, coordinator of the Spanish program at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, has been appointed by Gov. Mike Easley to the North Carolina Human Relations Commission.
Wendorff, an assistant professor, will serve on the 22-member board for four years. The commission promotes equality in housing, employment, public accommodations and government services.
Wendorff is a member of the UNCP Faculty Senate, UNCP Friends of the Library and the Gilbert Theatre. She received the Carpathian Award for Personal Advocacy from N.C. Equity in October 1999 and the Unsung Heroes Award for Education from The Women's Center of Fayetteville in September 1999.

Stephens picked as GOP chairman
LUMBERTON - Phillip Stephens of Fairmont has been elected chairman of the Robeson County Republican Party.
Republi-cans elected their leaders Tuesday during the party's annual convention at the Robeson County Courthouse.
Stephens, a physician assistant at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, replaces Don Metzger. Also elected were Anthony Dent as vice chairman; Bo Biggs as treasurer; and Jim Parker as secretary.
The terms are for two years.
