PEMBROKE A Red Springs man was killed in a road accident Wednesday night when his dirt bike was stuck by a truck.
Justin Allen Oxendine, 25, of 2840 McQueen Road, died after a 1996 GMC truck driven by 23-year-old Jeremiah Locklear of Lumberton side-swiped him on St. Anna Road, two miles from Pembroke, according to the Highway Patrol.
Oxendine was traveling south on St. Anna Road without a working headlight on his bike. Locklear was traveling north when he went left of the center of the road and side-swiped Oxendine. Oxendines vehicle ran off the road to the right and struck a mailbox, according to a report.
The accident happened at 11:06 p.m. Speed was not a factor, according to the report. The District Attorneys Office will be consulted about possible charges.
Damages were $3,500 to the truck and $800 to the dirt bike.
