LUMBERTON - Access to one of the city's busiest roads will be limited on Thursday and Monday as the state Department of Transportation does overnight resurfacing work.
Each night, one lane of Fayetteville Road between Interstate 95 and the Barker Ten Mile intersection will be closed. There are a lot of retail stores in that area, including Wal-Mart, Lowes Warehouse and Lowes Food, and a number of fast food restaurants.
“We'll be working on all of the lanes, but they'll only close one lane at a time,” said Earl Smith, an assistant resident engineer for DOT.
The construction will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each day. The project is part of a countywide resurfacing effort, Smith said.
“We're filling some ruts, that's the work they're going to be doing at night,” Smith said. “Then they'll come back and pave the whole section, but that will be during the day. I don't know the schedule for that yet.”
