PEMBROKE - UNCP headfootball coach Pete Shinnick announced the first of three expected additions to his coaching staff Tuesday, as former North Carolina high school coach Bill Yeager was hired on to coach the wide receivers for the Braves.
Yeager comes to Pembroke following a successful three-year head coaching stint at Gray's Creek High School. Yeager assumed his duties at UNCP in mid-January.
Yeager built the Gray's Creek program from the ground up, and guided the Bears to a 10-1 regular season record in 2005. Yeager earned Cumberland County Coach of the Year honors that year, and would later be selected to coach the East squad in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association East/West All-Star Game.
Yeager has also been the head coach at Terry Sanford High, and an assistant at Terry Sanford and South View High.
