RALEIGH The Friends of Plant Conservation will hold its annual meeting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
Rare plants of the coastal plain and the ecology of the region will be the topics of discussion at the meeting and a choice of two afternoon walks will be offered. Melanie Doyle will lead an aquarium horticulture tour and Paul Hosier will lead a coastal dunes ecology tour.

RALEIGH County governments and non-profit groups pursuing farmland preservation projects can apply for funding assistance from the North Carolina Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund, Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler announced.
