Miriam Purvis

Miriam Britt Purvis, 88, formerly of Garner, but more recently a
resident of Whitaker Glen Retirement Community, died March 17, 2009,
at Mayview Convalesant Center.
The funeral will be 11a.m. Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200
Benson Road, Garner, Dr. Harvey Whaley presiding. A graveside service
will follow at 3 p.m. Friday in Fairmont Cemetery, the Rev. Emily
Davis presiding.
Miriam was the daughter of the late Dudley H. Britt and Mae Hall Britt
of McDonald.
Miriam was a charter member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner
and a previous member of First Baptist Church of Garner and the First
Baptist Church in Fairmont. She worked for many years as a secretary
at the State Bureau of Investigation.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Garran D.
Purvis; and four brothers, N.L. Britt, Arthur V. Britt, Dudley H.
Britt Jr. and Carl T. Britt.
Surviving are a daughter, Vicki P. Campbell and husband George, both
of Lancaster, S.C.; a son, Garran D. Purvis Jr. of Garner; two
granddaughters, Amy Campbell Knox and husband Gil, both of Lancaster,
S.C., and Laura Campbell of Waxhaw; three great-grandchildren, Jordan,
Rachel and Grayson Knox; two brothers, David M. Britt of Cary and W.
Earl Britt of Lake Gaston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the
funeral home and following the graveside service.
