ROWLAND The senior duo of Nicorie Sinclair and Krista Davis made sure the South Robeson girls season lasted at least one more night.
Sinclair scored a game-high 32 points and Davis added 15 as the Mustangs routed Dixon 70-48 in the first round of the state 1A playoffs Monday night.
Despite starting the game slowly as it did against St. Pauls in the Three Rivers Conference tournament championship, South Robeson took a 32-26 lead into the intermission. The Mustangs (17-6) limited the Bulldogs to just 22 second-half points.
We started out flat in the beginning once again, South Robeson Lula Ratley said. Our defense picked up in the second quarter. (Jasmine) Robinson gave us a big problem in the first half, so we went to zone to try and neutralize her and it worked.
SouthRobeson hosts Jones in the second round Wednesday night.
