Carroll Middle School Wins Jr. Battle of the Books

LUMBERTON The fifth grade Battle of the Books team from Carroll Middle School won first place in the county competition on March 18. The team placed first out of eleven other county schools.
The fifth graders on the team were: Ethan Clewis, Caleb Edkins, Cassidy Fala, Pedro Garcia, Haylea Kirkland, Rico Pojol, Abby Rust, Allison Santiago, and Bryce Swindell. The students had to read 21 books and answer questions from the books.
The Golden Knights from Carroll Middle School were coached by Amby D. Taylor and Bobbie Ryberg.
On March 4 and 5, the sixth graders from Carroll Middle competed in the Middle School Battle of the Books and they placed third out of 12 schools in the county.
The sixth graders on the team were: Emily Fisher, Megan Fisher, Raleigh Forrest, Chloe Locklear, Hayden Martin, Jordan Singleton, Peyton Singleton, Megan Sirmans and Casey Rae Williamson. The sixth graders were also coached by Taylor and Ryberg.
