The St. Pauls Presbyterian Ingathering will take place on Wednesday, October 18. Plans for this traditional Harvest-time event are complete, and tickets can now be obtained from any church member or in town at the D.D. McColl hardware store.
A menu consisting of barbeque, Brunswick stew and chicken salad with appropriate side dishes will be offered. Meals may be take-out plates or enjoyed in the church fellowship hall. A drive through area is planned for take-out orders. Meals will be available from 4 pm until 7 pm at $6 each.
The popular Hoke County auctioneering team of Raz Autry and Frank Crumpler will be on hand for the auction beginning at 7:30 pm. A number of unique and interesting items, along with delicious sweets and other foods will be sold.
Another special interest is the raffle for the solid walnut coffee table to be given to the holder of the winning ticket. Created by expert local craftsmen Marvin Rea and Bud Powers, this handsome piece of of furniture will be displayed publicly at McColl’s during the week of the Ingathering. The winner does not have to be present to win. The drawing will take place in the fellowship hall at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be obtained with a donation of $1each.
The Ingathering has a long tradition in the St. Pauls church, having its beginnings during the early 1930’s Depression years. Every member has a role in the work and preparation for this community-wide occasion.
