Church to host breakfast on Jan. 15
LUMBERTON - The Raft Swamp Baptist Church will have a free hot breakfast for all county firemen, EMS personnel, rescue squad members and law enforcement officers on Jan. 15 at the church's fellowship hall.
The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Robeson County Sheriff Ken Sealey.
The church is on N.C. 72 West, across from the Raft Swamp Volunteer Fire Department. For information, call Billy Warwick, director of the Baptist Men at the church, at 258-6490.

Squad conducts portrait drive
RED SPRINGS - The Red Springs Rescue Squad is conducting its family portrait fund drive.
For the next several weeks, families in the service area will be contacted by phone or mail and asked to make a donation. Each family that makes a donation of any amount will receive a 10-by-13-inch portrait.
Proceeds will pay for new equipment. For information, call Lynne Cox at (800) 253-2638.

Smoking cessation classes offered
PEMBROKE - The Lumbee Tribal Government is offering free classes to anyone 18 years old and older who is trying to quit smoking.
The first of the 2nd Wind Cessation classes is scheduled for Jan. 25 at 707 Union Chapel Road, but people can go ahead and register.
