Ezra “Papa” Pierce, 77, of 68 Pierce Drive, died May 25, 2007, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Boles Funeral Home Chapel in Red Springs, the Rev. Shelly Dial officiating. Burial will follow at Dundarrach Baptist Church in Shannon.
Pierce was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Jane Pierce; a brother, Julian Pierce; and a sister, Mary Helen Collins.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel W. Pierce of Lumber Bridge; a son, Roger Pierce of Lumber Bridge; two daughters, Carolyn P. Morgan and Gail P. Lowery both of Lumber Bridge; three brothers, Phil Pierce of Aberdeen, John E. Pierce of Tuscon, Ariz., and Roy Pierce of Wichita, Kan.; five sisters, Susan Dale Chavis of Red Springs, Connie Oxendine of Pembroke, Josephine Parks of Raeford, Cordelia Pierce and Peggy Ann Lowery both of Aberdeen; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and special caregiver Janie Jacobs.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs.
