The 4-H animal competitions are open to all youth ages 5-19 who complete a 4-H Animal Science Project. There were three age divisions: juniors, ages 9-13; seniors, ages 14-19; and cloverbuds, a noncompetitive class for children ages 5 to 8.
This year, there were six cloverbuds competing in the three different poultry contests. The cloverbuds were Amber McGirt, Matthew Acorn, Eli Daugherty, Ian Daugherty, Ashton Chavis, and Adrienne Chavis. Each walked away with a trophy and $10 in prize money.
The broiler competitions turned into a battle between brother and sister in both the junior and senior divisions. Sebastian Bullard placed first, while his sister Kelsey Bullard placed second in the junior division. In the senior division, Jasmine Bullard took first place over her brother Triton Bullard.
