Drucilla Velenia Phillips Thompson, 83, of Lumberton, died Nov. 9, 2008, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meadowbrook Cemetery, the Rev. Dr. Russell T. Cherry Jr. officiating.
Thompson was born in Robeson County on Sept. 19, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Neill Archie and Drucy Velenia Howell.
Thompson was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Ladies Fellowship Sunday School class. She was the former owner of Thompson Insurance Company for many years.
Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Coley Jessie “Bill” Thompson; two brothers, Hansford Yates and Earl Ray Phillips; and a sister, Madeline Harrelson Odum.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Anthony Thompson of Spartanburg, S.C., and Coley Jeffery Thompson of Charlotte; two granddaughters, Lauren Jill and Melinda Coley Thompson, both of Charlotte; a sister, Dr. Joyce Phillips Moore Mixson of Georgetown S.C.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
