Rosie Jones, 82, of 1827 Biggs Road, died July 26, 2006, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at The Rock Church of God, the Revs. Ronald Scott, Lesaundra Hunt and Terry Oxendine officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Jones was born in Robeson County on March 3, 1924. She was an active member of The Rock Church of God, formerly Hestertown Church of God, for 53 years. She retired from the Public Schools of Robeson County, where she worked for 20 years.
The family said: “She was a devoted mother, companion and friend. We would like to give a special thanks to Native Angels' Wanda, Nicole and Annette.”
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Jones.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Linwood “Buddy” Jones of the home; two sons, Robert Lee Jones and his wife, Betty, and Lenard Jones and his wife, Lelia, all of Lumberton; six daughters, Nancy Jane Demery and her husband, Jessie, of Rowland, Joyce Cummings and her husband, Ervin, of Rowland, Julice Clark and her husband, Coolidge, of Pembroke, Rosie Mary Chavis and her husband, Delton, of Lumberton, Janice Oxendine and her husband, Colon, of Rowland and Dina Locklear of Rowland; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and three special friends, Zula Scott and Spencer and Mary Lee Locklear.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at The Rock Church of God, 2208 W. Carthage Road, Lumberton. Arrangements by Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton.
