Two people have died on Robeson County roads since Friday, including one cyclist who was the victim of a hit-and-run.

According to a report by state Highway Patrol Trooper J.T. Locklear, 52-year-old Jimmy Locklear, of 257 Daily Road, Maxton, was killed while riding a bicycle west on State Road 1312 at about 9:05 p.m. Friday. The report said Locklears bicycle was struck from behind by a vehicle that failed to reduce speed and then left the accident scene.

On Saturday, Sydrico Juan Kelly Oxendine, 35, 130 Rio Drive, Pembroke, was killed at 7:49 p.m. in a single-car accident while driving a 2000 Ford passenger car north on State Road 1158. According to the Highway Patrol, the Ford drifted right, Oxendine over-corrected, and the vehicle left the road to the left, striking a fence and overturning.

Oxendine, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle, according to the report. He was pronounced dead at Southeastern Regional Medical Denter. Oxendine was alone in the car.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
