LUMBERTON - You get a chance to have a say in the city's recreational future tonight when the Lumberton Parks and Recreation Department hosts a public meeting at 7 in the Bill Sapp Center to discuss the Northeast Park Master Plan.
The meeting is the next step on a path that began back in 1979 when the city identified the city's northeast area as the ideal place to locate a new park. The park is planned for land east of Lumberton High School between Hornets, Meadow and Pleasant Meadow roads.
Site Solutions of Charlotte was chosen to develop the park. This is the second public meeting on the park, with Site Solutions providing updated plans based on the previous meeting in November. Nearly 150 people attended that meeting. The final design will be presented to the City Council in January.
City officials have said they hope to have the park completed by the spring of 2007.
