William Nelson Jim Carter, 59, of St. Pauls, died Feb. 21, 2010, in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Lumberton, the Revs. Manford Locklear and Jimmy McNeill officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born in Robeson County on Feb. 5, 1951. He was the son of the late Edmond and Lennie Zula Locklear Carter.
Carter was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he was active in the Married Adults Class.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Stancil, Rencil, James Nelson Carter, Cattie Mae Hayes, and Zelma Mae McNeill.
Surviving are his wife, Katrina Oxendine Carter of the home. Also surviving are two sons, Jimmy Wayne Carter of Lumberton and Jonathan Carter of St. Pauls; two stepsons, Jessie Lee Oxendine and Oscar Miller Scott, both of Lumberton; 10 siblings, Levonia Lowery, John Edmond Bud Carter, Elmer Blackburn, and Harold Carter, all of St. Pauls, Essie Thelma Locklear, Elizabeth and Mary G. Carter, Zula Flowers, all of Lumberton, and Katie Lee Chavis of Pembroke, and Patricia Oxendine of Rowland; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton, and other times at the residence.
