Joseph Anthony Lowery, 55, of 785 Onnie Road, Maxton, was born Jan. 15, 1954,
to Joseph Lowery and Priscilla Locklear Lowery. He departed this life
on June 30, 2009.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Prospect United
Methodist Church, Dr. Kenneth Locklear and the Rev. Bill James
Locklear officiating.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lowery and
Priscilla Locklear Lowery; and an infant sister, Magnolia Lowery.
He is survived by his wife, Clenora Lowery; two sons, Mark Lowery and
Eli Lowery; three grandchildren, Sierra Lowery, Hart Lowery, and Teea
Lowery; three sisters, Pandora Cummings and Carl Lee, Joanne Locklear
and Bobby, and Yvonne Dial and Jerry; four nephews; three nieces; and
three special step-granddaughters, Naariah Waltman, Mayla Brayboy and
Jenna Oxendine; and a host of relatives and friends.
The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Prospect United
Methodist Church. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. tonight.

Boyd Gray Sweeney, 74, of Lumberton, died June 30, 2009, at home.
He is survived by his wife, Rena Sweeney of the home; two sons, Seth
Sweeney of Lumberton and B.J. Sweeney of Charlotte; two daughters,
Renee Sweeney of Lumberton and Lesa Griffith of Carthage, N.Y.; two
sisters, Shelby Jean Combs of London, Ky. and Ivory Stapleton of
Gartis, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Floyd
Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton.
