Southeastern Regional Medical Center Foundation volunteers are preparing for the 15th annual gala fundraiser, this year to benefit Southeastern Hospice House. The “Garden Party Gala” will be held Friday, Feb. 23 at Pinecrest County Club. Proceeds from the gala will be used to beautify the gardens and grounds of the inpatient hospice facility now being renovated for terminally ill patients and their families.

Southeastern Hospice House is expected to open in February 2007 at 1100 Pine Run Drive in Lumberton. The 12-bed facility will feature a home-like atmosphere with large, private rooms for hospice patients. It will also offer a family kitchen, a chapel and a library as well a playground and walking trials.

Foundation volunteers are focusing their fund-raising efforts on making sure the inner courtyard and surrounding grounds of the hospice setting will be both attractive and serene to enhance the end-of-life care provided there by the hospice staff.
