Bowie, Md.
Col. Christopher Leon McRae, 48, of Bowie, Md., and formerly of Red Springs, N.C., died July 16, 2005, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.
The memorial is noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home Chapel in Red Springs. Burial is Saturday at Cheltenham National Cemetery in Cheltenham.
McRae served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn Dewitt-McRae of Bowie; his mother, Lula Goodwin of Red Springs; his father, Leroy McRae of Red Springs; a daughter, Christal I. McRae of Forestville; a stepdaughter, Alexa Dewitt of Bowie; two sons, Christopher McCormick of Garner, N.C., and Derick Leon McRae of Bowie; 10 sisters, Valeria Haywood of Fayetteville, N.C., Shelia Geddie of Greensboro, N.C., Juanita Virgil of Capital Heights, Paula Shaw of Louisiana, Francies Rice of Henderson, N.C., Karen D. Allen of Raeford, N.C., Kathy McRae-Culbreth, Yolanda McLaurin, Debra McRae and Angela Y. McRae, all of Red Springs; six brothers, Archie McRae of Lumberton, N.C., Gary McNeill of Raeford, Donald McMillan of Raleigh, N.C., Jerald Cobb, Roy McRae and Jonathan Goodwin, all of Red Springs; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home Chapel.
