LUMBERTON - Robeson County's jobless rate for November was down, but just barely from the month before.
The state Employment Security Commission's latest employment figures show the county had an unemployment rate of 7.1 percent for November. The rate was 7.2 percent in October.
Robeson was one of 32 counties in North Carolina that saw the rate decline. Statewide the rate was 5.1 percent for November.
“The economy remains healthy throughout the state and employment is up by over 78,500 since this time last year,” ESC Chairman Harry E. Payne Jr. said in statement.
Still, 50 counties saw rates rise and 18 counties stayed the same in November.
The rates for surrounding counties were: Bladen, 7.2 percent; Columbus, 6.5 percent; Cumberland, 6.1 percent; Hoke, 6.3 percent; and Scotland, 8.3 percent.
