Mrs. Dale Britt Smith died at home on Sept. 10, 2005, surrounded by family.
A celebration of her life was held Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial followed in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by husband, Eugene M. (Diddy) Smith, two beloved great-grandchildren, David “Chandler” Wright and Chloe Elizabeth Wright, and a sister, Elsie B. Kinlaw.
Mrs. Smith was a life-long resident of Robeson County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Eloise Britt. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Southern Bell, with many years of service. In addition, she was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church and belonged to the Sunshine Group and the Ruth Class, which she also taught for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Surviving are a son, Eugene Mitchell Smith Jr. and his wife, Rudine, of Lumberton; a daughter, Kathy Smith Freeman and her husband, Jerry, of Lumberton; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Freeman Wright, and her husband, Ronald; two grandsons, Jeremy Mitchell Freeman of Lumberton and Eugene Mitchell (Tre) Smith and his wife, April, of Lumberton; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Corrine Wright; four sisters, Dorothy Stewart and Inez Smith, both of Lumberton, Vashti Musselwhite of Fairmont and Eloise Talley of Georgia; three brothers, Robert Britt of Rowland, Ralph Britt of McDonald, Pittman Britt of Lumberton; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends at the home.
