Henry “Junior” Chavis, 58, of 9127 Rennert Road, died Dec. 22, 2006, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Praise and Worship Center in Red Springs, the Revs. Ricky Deese, Jerry Scott and Jimmy Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Chavis family cemetery in Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Chavis Sr.; a brother, the Rev. Lee Romie “Bud” Chavis; and a sister, Mary Jane Callahan.
Surviving are his wife, Eunice Chavis of the home; three daughters, Anita Locklear and her husband, Scott, of Red Springs; Annette Jones and her husband, Randy, of Shannon and Teresa Barton and her husband, Simmie Wayne, of Pembroke; his mother, Janie Chavis of Shannon; six brothers, Harlie Chavis, Carlie Chavis, Ernest Chavis, Ronald Lee Chavis, Thurman Chavis and Albert Chavis, all of Shannon; eight sisters, Shelby Jane Locklear and Eyvonnie Pevia, both of Lumber Bridge, Ann Emanuel, Lora A. McMillian and Frances Locklear, all of Shannon; Lillie M. Oxendine and Sharon Locklear of Pembroke and Bonnie Scott of Maxton; four grandchildren, Jocelyn Barton, Kelsea Barton, Christon Locklear and Raven Locklear; a godchild, Zoie McKenzie Bullard; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Boles Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Red Springs.
