LUMBERTON - A 21-year-old man and three teenagers face drug charges after they were arrested Friday following a brief chase.
Sheriff's Lt. Charlie Revels said deputies were investigating complaints of illegal drug sales near Beam Road at approximately 8:10 p.m. when they saw a white 1996 Hyundai traveling at a high rate of speed turn onto Pine Tree Road off Beam Road.
Revels said that when lawmen pursued the vehicle, the driver sped away, turned into a yard, and all four occupants jumped out and ran.
Deputies chased them for approximately 800 feet before catching them, Revels said.
Approximately 5 grams of crack cocaine and a 22-caliber handgun were seized, according to Revels.
Justin William Bryant, 17, of 380 Lumbee Ave., Danny Woods, 21, of 993 Beam Road, Eric Lynn Brooks, 17, of 541 Lumbee Ave., and Bill Andrew Carter, 18, of 921 Beam Road were each charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, conspiracy to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Revels said Carter also had outstanding warrants charging him with possession of marijuana, second-degree trespass, and communicating threats. He was jailed on $50,000 bail.
Bryant, Woods, and Brooks were each jailed on $35,000 bail.
