LUMBERTON - A Lumberton man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of another man who was shot apparently as the result of an argument over a woman.
Tushombi Take Wallace, 28, of 202 Edinborough Drive, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Charles Lewis Boddie II.
Boddie, 28, of 522 Swann Drive, was killed about 6 p.m. in the parking lot of P.J.'s convenient Mart on East Second Street, according to the police Lt. Mickey Biggs.
“There was an argument, and from what we can tell, the shooting occurred because of a former girlfriend,” Biggs said.
Wallace's former girlfriend had been talking with Boddie in the store parking lot only a few minutes before he was shot to death, Biggs said.
“It's unclear what the relationship was between Boddie and the woman,” Biggs said.
Biggs said Boddie was shot with a small-caliber handgun, but it's unclear how many times he was shot. Biggs said investigators should know more about the gunshot wounds after an autopsy that will be performed at the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill.
Wallace, who was unemployed, was placed in the county jail under $30,000 bail.
