Estelle Bailey Floyd, 89, of Lake View, died April 8, 2007, at Marion County Medical Center after an illness.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery.
Floyd was born in her home on Peachtree Street in Lake View on Jan. 27, 1918, the daughter of the late Josephine and Harvey Bailey. She was a graduate of Lake View High School. Floyd was co-owner of Floyd's Cafe on Main Street in Lake View until she retired in 1974. She and her late husband, Slate A. Floyd, served the public for many years.
Floyd's Cafe was the location for early coffee and a hardy breakfast, where families and travelers enjoyed old-fashioned, home-cooked Southern cuisine for lunch and where the teens enjoyed hamburger, hot-dogs, milkshakes and ice cream sundaes in the evening.
The family said: &#8220Mrs. Estelle was dedicated to and loved her personal Lord and Savior. She expressed her love as a devoted member of the church choir, as well as a Sunday school teacher and mission supporter. Throughout her life she always placed others first and had a kind and generous heart. Many have been blessed by knowing her. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.”
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo Floyd Fuller and her husband, Tom, of Marion, and Jenelle Floyd Martin and her husband, Billy, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Catherine Fuller Fleming of Daniel Island, James Townsend Fuller of Mt. Pleasant, Allison Martin Cook and her husband, Andrew, of Chesapeake, Va., Lindsey Brooke Martin and Adam Bailey Martin, both of Columbia; and a great-grandson, Marshal Williams Fleming of Daniel Island.
