Frank J. Holmes, 85, of Aiken, S.C., died Sunday at University Hospital of Augusta.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, Father Leon Mozeliak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Holmes was born in Lumberton, N.C., to the late Thomas and Lucy Jones Holmes. He moved to Aiken in 1951.
He served in the United States Air Force during World Ward II and in the National Guard. He owned and operated Holmes Jewelers in downtown Aiken for many years.
Holmes owned and operated Holmes Jewelers in downtown Aiken for many years. He was a past president of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Aiken Rotary, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Aiken Masonic Lodge No. 156. He was a member of Palmetto and Aiken Golf Clubs. He was also a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his loving wife Mary Louise Holmes; his beloved sons, Robert F. Holmes, Aiken Holmes and the Rev. James W. Holmes; and six grandchildren, Maggie, Jamie, Sarah, Abbie, Andrew and Robert Holmes.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Shellhouse Funeral Home Inc., 924 Hayne Ave., Aiken, S.C.
