Hector Henry Gilchrist Jr., 68, of 121 Sherman Road, died May 19, 2006, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthews AME Zion Church in Maxton, the Rev. Linda I. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Maxton.
Surviving are his wife, Aileen Gilchrist; two sons, Joseph Farmer of Massachusetts and Merlin Buie of Lumberton; two stepsons, Roy McCutchen of Maxton and Tommy McCutchen of Atlanta; two daughters, Ruthie A. Gilchrist and Beulah C. Gilchrist, both of Maxton; four stepdaughters, Mae McNair of Laurinburg, Vivian Manning of Maxton, Christine Braddy of Laurel Hill and Carolyn Brewington of Parkton; a sister, Beulah Gilchrist of Lorain, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Carrie Hester Funeral Service.
