Ida Rose Walters Mayes, 75, of Lumberton, died at her residence on Jan. 11, 2011.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at East Lumberton Church of God, the Revs. Bruce Brumfield and Russell Kinlaw Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery.
She was born in Robeson County on Aug. 30, 1935, to the late Etheridge Walters and Polly Lee Walters. She previously worked as a flat knitter for the Outer Banks Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 56 years, Howard Mayes.
Mayes is survived by three sons, Donald Mayes and wife Lynn, James Howard Mayes Jr. and wife Lynn and Charles Henry Mayes and wife Pam, all of Lumberton; four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Baker and husband John, Wanda Sue Hall and husband Randy, all of Lumberton, Mary Mayes of the home and Kathy Garner and husband Lacy, both of Carthage; two sisters, Sue Laughlin of Lumberton and Doris Long of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. Fifth St. in Lumberton.
