William E. Moore Sr., 82, of St. Pauls, died Feb. 2, 2009, at
Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, following a brief illness.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Moore was born Nov. 19, 1926. He was the son of the late B.H.
Moore Sr. and Louise Dunham Moore of Tar Heel. A WWII U.S. Navy
veteran and long time resident of St. Pauls, Mr. Moore (Bill) was a
well known businessman and partner in the firm of D.D. McColl, Inc. He
was active in community affairs and was a member of the St. Pauls
Presbyterian Church, where he was named Elder Emeritus in 2004.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Peggy) Pittman Moore
of the home; a son, William E. Moore Jr. and his wife Georgia, both of
Southern Pines; two daughters, Kathy Moore of Jamestown and Vivian
Moore Millar and her husband Bill, both of St. Pauls; three
grandchildren, Alyson Moore Zarzecki of Raleigh and Will and Kate
Moore of Southern Pines; two sisters, Dianne Woodell of Tar Heel and
Nancy Hinshaw of Kernersville; and two brothers, B.H. Moore Jr. of Tar
Heel and Lynn Moore of Oak Island.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in
the church Fellowship Hall.
