Mahaley Jacobs, 85, died Sept. 4, 2007, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church, the Revs. Mike Cummings, Mickey Lowery and Ronald Locklear officiating. Interment will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery on Rennert Road.
Jacobs was born in Richmond County on April 1, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence McNair Jacobs.
Jacobs was a member of the Union Baptist Church where she was active in the Adult Women's Class and had served as pianist for more than 50 years. She was a retired seamstress with Jasper Mills.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Jiles Jacobs, Jerry Jacobs, Eli Jacobs, Henry Allen Jacobs and Ernest Jacobs Jr.; and two sisters, Carrie Hunt and Nettie Bell.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, among them Joey W. Jacobs Sr. and his wife Lucy, both of Lumberton; several great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great- nephews; great-great-great nieces and great-great-great-nephews; and her caregivers, Mary Jane Hunt and Wanda McNeill.
Memorials may be made to the Union Baptist Church, c/o Hazel Jacobs, 2302 Oak Grove Church Road, Lumberton, N.C., 28360.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Biggs Funeral Home, and other times at 3120 Baxter St.
