Steve Allen Locklear, 47, of Lumberton, was born Dec. 12, 1962, to George Allen Locklear and Gertrude Oxendine. He departed this life on Sept. 3, 2010.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, the Revs. Marshall Strickland and Kary Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Oxendine Cemetery.
Steve Allen, who his friends nicknamed Stone Cold, was a quite and soft-hearted man who would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He worked in construction all his life and was working with Richard Chavis at the time of his death. Steve is going to be missed by all who knew him and especially by his family. He will not be forgotten!
Steve was preceded in death by his father, George Allen Locklear; his paternal grandfather, Sandy Allen Lowery Sr.; and his maternal grandmother, Edna Blue Locklear.
He is survived by his loving mother, Gertrude Oxendine of the home; his godmother, Rita Mae Wilkins of Red Springs; his stepfather Stacy Oxendine of Lumberton; a sister, Tracey Sue Locklear of Red Springs; a brother, Vann Jones of Lumberton; a niece, Shenell Locklear of Red Springs; a nephew, Marty Locklear, of Red Springs; his paternal grandmother, Goldie Lowery of Lumberton; two aunts, Annie Ruth Maynor and Annie Pearl Lowry, both of Pembroke; three uncles, Sandy Allen Lowery Jr. and Tyron Lowery, both of Lumberton, and Bobby Allen Lowery of Shannon; special friends Michael and Tonya Jones, Austin Bullard and Jeanne Ann Woods; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
