Durham woman faces misdemeanor charges

LUMBERTON - A Durham woman has been charged in a two-vehicle accident on Barker Ten Mile Road on Saturday that killed a Fayetteville man, one of two deadly accidents this weekend.
Julie Ann Chestnut, 32, of 3022 Hallway Road, Durham, was charged with two misdemeanors in the wreck that killed Larry Jeffcoat Willette, 62. The accident happened after Chestnut lost control of the 2002 Ford truck she was driving near an intersection on Barker Ten Mile Road, according to the state Highway Patrol.
State Trooper M.J. Connor charged Chestnut with misdemeanor death by vehicle and misdemeanor driving without an operator's license.
First Sgt. Scott Howell said the accident occurred after Chestnut lost control of the pickup she was driving on Barker Ten Mile Road, ran off the road to the right, jerked the truck back onto the road and it crossed the center line, striking the truck driven by Willette. The accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
Willette lived at 3320 Melba Ave., Fayetteville.
Brandon Scott Ellis, 19, of 332 E. Powersville Road, Lumberton, a passenger in Willette's truck, suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released from Southeastern Regional Medical Center on Saturday, according to a hospital spokesman.
According to the report, Chestnut and a passenger in her truck, Hollie Lee Daniels, 43, also of 3032 Hallway Road, suffered minor injuries .
In a separate accident Saturday, a Virginia man died in a single-car accident on Interstate 95 near exit 33. Details of the accident and the man's identity were not available.
