PEMBROKE — The owner of a body shop in Pembroke was arrested on Thursday and charged with a number of drug crimes, according to a sheriff’s lieutenant.
Derring Shawn Dial, 31, of 99 Whistling Rufus Road, was arrested following a search of Dial’s Body Shop on Prospect Road, according to Lt. Charlie Revels, supervisor of the Drug Division. Dial is charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Revels said drug agents had received information concerning the selling of illegal narcotics at Dial’s Body Shop. He said an informant helped agents purchase several undercover buys of cocaine from Dial at the body shop, which enabled agents to get a search warrant.
At about 3 p.m. on Thursday, agents arrived and conducted a search. Revels said they found about 50 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,500.
Dial was arrested and placed in the Robeson County jail under a $35,000 secured bond. The North Carolina Department of Revenue collected $3,500 in unpaid taxes on the cocaine.
Revels said Dial also had an outstanding warrant in Union County for possession of stolen property.
