2 charged with break-in at store
LUMBERTON - Two Lumberton men were charged Sunday with breaking into a Sun Do Kwik Shop on Roberts Avenue to get beer and some smokes, a police report said.
Andre Maurice Edwards, 33, and Tommy El McCoy, 32, were each charged with felonies.
The store clerk reported that seven cartons of cigarettes worth $280 and two cases of beer worth about $30 were taken. The clerk also reported $350 in damage to the front door.
Edwards, of 377 Owen Drive, and McCoy, of 12 Marion Road, were each jailed under a $8,000 bond.
Pair rob Pizza Hut, lock up employee
LUMBERTON - Two masked gunmen robbed the Pizza Hut restaurant late Sunday and locked up an employee in the restaurant's cooler, a police report said.
Carl Edwards, 33, was on his way to his car when the two gunmen forced him back into the restaurant, according to the report. Edwards said the men stole about $1,250 and about $8 worth of beer.
Police Capt. Clayton Oxendine said Edwards was locked in the cooler for about 10 minutes. Police have suspects in the armed robbery.
Man charged with robbery, assault
LUMBERTON - Fredrick Leo Wilson was arrested Saturday and charged with felony common law robbery and felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, a police report said.
The charges were from old warrants. Investigators arrested Wilson, 24, at the Robeson Regional Agricultural Fair after officers recognized him.
Wilson, of Lot 58 Sunset Mobile Home Park, was jailed under a $25,000 bond.
