David D. McInnis, of Dundarrach, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A memorial service honoring Mr. McInnis was conducted at Dundarrach Community Church on Sunday, April 20, 2008. The Dr. Ray Harris officiated.
Mr. McInnis was born in Hoke County on June 7, 1915, to the later Luther Alexander McInnis and Annie Pearl McGilvary McInnis. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer with 22 years of service and earned five Battle Stars in the Pacific during World War II. He also retired from the City of Miami after his naval service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by a sister, Grace McInnis Malone of Lumber Bridge; and a brother, Henry McInnis of Lumber Bridge; and several nieces and nephews.
