ROWLAND A 16-year-old boy suffered serious injuries when he was cut with a boxcutter on Saturday.
The boy was allegedly attacked by a friend of his mothers.
John Casey Caulder, of N.C. 130 East, was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center and was treated and released.
According to a sheriffs report, Caulder and his mother were walking to the home at about 11:40 p.m. when the man attacked Caulder, slashing him across the forehead, back and arms. The man then fled.
Caulder received stitches and staples for the wounds. A doctor told deputies that a cut on Caulders had just missed a main artery that could have resulted in death had it been severed.
The man is expected to be charged later this week, a spokesperson for the Robeson County Sheriffs Office Juvenile Division said Tuesday.
