LUMBERTON A groundbreaking ceremony for The Eldercare Resource Center Surgeon Law Firm is set for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the site on Dunn Road.
The new facility will be an exclusive, state-of-the-art, health care, financial and legal services complex for seniors and the disabled, said Diane Surgeon, local attorney and businesswoman.
It will house four businesses that comprise The Surgeon Group: The Eldercare Resource Center; The Elder Law CenterSurgeon Law Firm; Elite Adult Day Health Care Center; and ComForcare Senior Services.
Surgeon was recently named by the Small Business and Technology Development Center as Entrepreneur of the Year.
As CEO of ComForcare Senior Services, Surgeon has been providing in-home, private duty care for seniors and the disabled for the past five years.
I am excited about the opportunity to provide exclusive, one-stop comprehensive long term care services for seniors, the disabled and their families, she said.
Last year, Surgeon founded The Elder Law CenterSurgeon Law Firm to assist and counsel seniors regarding their life care planning and estate planning.
The new complex will also feature a new facility Elite Adult Day Health Care Center which will provide comprehensive medical, non-medical, and therapeutic day programs for its senior clients.
This complex is expected to create at least 15 jobs.
Construction of the complex was partly funded by the NC Rural Economic Development Centers Rural Health Care Initiative Grants Program. Grant money was awarded to the city of Lumberton in partnership with Surgeon this past March.
