LUMBERTON Three men and a teenage boy were arrested Thursday night and charged with multiple felonies, including armed robbery, police Lt. Johnny Barnes said.
Eric Jacobs, 26, Jacob Chavis, 18, and Joshua Chavis, 17, attempted to rob Alfonso Remos, 26, of Lumberton, while he was walking along Roberts Avenue, near Dawn Drive on Thursday, Barnes said.
Barnes said that Remos told deputies a Dodge Durango pulled up beside him, and five men, one pointing a gun at him, demanded his money. He ignored them and continued walking, and they pulled up beside him again with the same demand.
Remos girlfriend pulled up behind the Dodge in her car, and the men drove away, Barnes said.
Police later found the vehicle at McDonalds on Roberts Avenue.
Barnes said police found a rifle in the trunk of the car, as well as a camera, wallet, and two-way radio that had been reported stolen in a vehicle break-in in the Mayfair subdivision.
Jacobs, of 214 Decker Road in St. Pauls, was charged with attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, breaking into a motor vehicle, and larceny. He is being held at the Robeson County jail on $25,000 bond.
Jacob and Joshua Chavis, both of 908 Russ Road in Lumberton, were each charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and conspiracy to break into a vehicle. They are being held at the Robeson County jail under $10,000 bond.
A 15-year-old was also arrested and charged, but his name was not released because of his age.
