Leroy Huggins, 82, of 768 Watts Road, Lumberton, died Monday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Biggs Chapel in Lumberton, the Rev. Elmer Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
Huggings was born March 19, 1920, in Columbus County, the son of the late Vernon and Missouri Strickland Huggins. He was a member of the Raft Swamp Baptist Church, where he was active in the adult men's class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kaye Horn; three bothers, Arthur Huggins, Ira Huggins and R.C. Huggins; and three sisters, Evie Guyton, Lollie Lee and Emma Williams.
Surviving are his wife, Sara Scott Huggins of the home; two sons, Robert Gerald and his wife, Debbie, both of Riesel, Texas, and Roy Lee Huggins and his wife, Wanda, both of Lumberton; four daughters, Sara Ann Nelson and her husband, Ed, both of Supply, Jean Rogers and her husband, Keith, both of Fairmont, Diane Wilkins of Lumberton, and Faye Taylor and her husband, James Ryan, both of Rowland; two sisters, Sadie Simmons of Laurinburg, and Jessie Ritchie of Citia, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton and other times at the home.
