FAIRMONT A single-car accident Thursday killed a Fairmont man and injured three others, but none seriously.
According a report by Trooper D.E. Raynor of the state Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Brian Lambert, of 415 Tedder Road, was killed when a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck he was a passenger in crashed while traveling west on Chicken Road.
The report said the vehicle, which was being driven by Howard Locklear, 61, of 1147 Jonesville Road, left the road to the right, then traveled back onto and across the road, exiting it to the left, striking a ditch and becoming airborne. The vehicle was traveling about 70 mph in a 55-mph zone.
Three passengers in the vehicle, Gregory Locklear, 48, of 86 Yukon Drive, Fairmont, Kevin Oxendine, 18, 7246 E Raynham Road, Fairmont, and Jordan Hunt, 17, 4350 E. White Pond Road, Fairmont, were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where they were treated and released. The report said Howard Locklear did not go to the medical center.
Locklear was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The accident happened at 5:45 a.m. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $9,000. No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
Floyd Funeral Services, which is handling the arrangements, had Lamberts age as 18.
