Pedestrian struck, killed on I-74

LUMBERTON A Red Springs man was struck and killed when he stepped out in front of a vehicle on Interstate 74 Tuesday night.
According to a report by Trooper James Jones, Cedric Galberath, 26, of 104 Mallpass Ave., was walking in the eastbound lane when he was struck by a 2004 Honda van at about 11:49 p.m. according to Nance.
According to the report, Denotra Powell, 29, of 70 Crescent St., Lumberton, was traveling east in the van when it struck Galbreath, who was wearing dark clothing. Powell was no injured.
If you have to be walking at night, walk against traffic, on the left shoulder, wear light colored clothes, and carry a flashlight, said G.B. Nance, who provided details of the report to The Robesonian.
The van could not be driven following the accident. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
There was no indication on why Galbreath was in the roadway.
